F.A.Q. – Frequently asked questions

1. Registration / installation / activation

I have not received the registration confirmation email. What should I do?

We recommend opening your email client and looking for a folder called “Junk Mail” (or “Spam”): check whether the activation email ended up there by mistake. If you cannot find it, you can send an email to the technical staff at specifying the nickname you registered.

I already have a nickname. How can I add a new one?

To add a new nickname you must complete a new registration using the “REGISTER” section. You can also use the same email address you already used for other nicknames.

2. Games

What does “minimum number of hands required for ranking” mean?

When creating a game, below the “NUMBER OF HANDS” a green indicator appears showing whether a game is valid or not valid for ranking. Currently the limit is set at 3 HANDS for 2-PLAYER games, and 2 HANDS for 4-PLAYER games.

If a game is “not valid for ranking”, the final result (WON/LOST) is not recorded on profiles and no LEVEL POINTS are awarded. Games not valid for ranking are useful for players who want to practice without affecting their or their opponents' scores, or for those who are not interested in competing for LEVEL rankings.

Is it true that some positions (North/South or East/West) always win?

No, it is not true. Despite this, you will always find players who claim that certain positions are favoured.

Is it true that the server favours players with lower or higher levels?

No, it is not true – and we often smile every time we hear this story resurface (which comes back almost monthly). It would be enough to observe certain details: for example, during the game a card is drawn at the player's own choice – and the back of the card drawn from the deck does not change depending on who is drawing it. If the opposite were true, the card would change according to the level of the player drawing it. You will often hear stories and urban legends about these points.

I received insults at a table. How do I report this unpleasant incident?

We have a team of moderators who, at players' request, intervene to review the chat and decide on possible measures: from a temporary chat suspension to a permanent ban.

To report a player you need an Elite account – this is how players who care about community quality help to maintain it. If you are not Elite, you can still mute a player and add them to your black list.

I suspect my opponents are sharing their hands via WhatsApp, Telegram or similar tools. What can I do?

When used correctly, sharing tools can be a great way to socialize and add a bit of spice to the Burraconline experience. Unfortunately, as with all things, when these tools are used for other purposes their positive aspects are lost.

The important thing is to build a group of trusted virtual friends within the community. Against the decision to secretly share one's cards, there is little we can do.

3. Abandonments

Why don't you distinguish between players who lose their connection and those who voluntarily disconnect by clicking “abandon the table”?

Because once the trick was understood, instead of clicking “abandon the game”, everyone would unplug their internet cable “simulating” a connection drop.

Why not add a button that lets the abandoning player concede victory to the opponent?

Because cheaters would exploit it by playing from two PCs, continuously abandoning with one nickname and winning with the other to level it up.

We do not want Burraconline to be filled with players who have reached dragon level through various tricks: we prefer to award the correct level only to those who truly deserve it, even if this process must necessarily be slowed down because of cheaters.

Players who abandon don't care about their level. Why not ban them for 6 months?

There are two fundamental reasons:

  1. On Burraconline you can create as many accounts as you want: if we ban an account it is always possible to create a new one.
  2. It is an excessive punishment and we risk preventing access to those who simply had a connection problem or other issue.
Are you working on new systems to combat “cheaters” who do anything to win a game?

On Burraconline you will often find players who exploit any situation to quickly level up, or who deliberately provoke at the table to force others to abandon. This phenomenon grows proportionally with Burraconline's user base. In the ELITE version there are tools to curb these individuals.

Why not give the win to the player who suffers an abandonment?

Because cheaters would exploit it by playing from two PCs, continuously abandoning with one nickname and winning with the other to level it up.

We do not want Burraconline to be filled with players who have reached dragon level through various tricks: we prefer to award the correct level only to those who truly deserve it, even if this process must necessarily be slowed down because of cheaters.
